FIXMYSTOREFRONT

Headless & custom

Headless and custom commerce, engineered to last.

When off-the-shelf isn't enough, we design and build the commerce systems you actually need — headless storefronts, custom platforms and composable architecture — around evidence, not hype.

WHAT THIS FEELS LIKE

Platform limits, performance ceilings or unique operations mean off-the-shelf isn't enough — but "go headless" is easy to say and expensive to get wrong.

CUSTOM & HEADLESS, IN DETAIL

What we can actually do.

How do we know if headless is actually worth it for us?

Start from the commercial case, not the trend. Headless earns its cost when performance is a proven revenue constraint you've already hit, when you need experiences the platform genuinely can't deliver, or at a scale where the flexibility pays for the extra engineering. For most stores, a well-tuned standard build delivers the majority of the benefit for far less — and if that's you, we'll say so. Our decision guide walks through it.

What do you build headless storefronts with?

Typically React and Next.js (or Shopify's Hydrogen), talking to the commerce backend over GraphQL/REST Storefront APIs, with a headless CMS for content and server-side rendering for speed and SEO. The stack follows the requirement, not fashion — we choose what your team can own and maintain, not the most fashionable option.

Will going headless help or hurt our SEO?

It can help — faster pages and full control over markup — but only if implemented carefully. That means server-side (or static) rendering so crawlers see complete HTML, correct metadata and structured data, and a complete redirect map if you're replatforming. Done carelessly, a headless build harms SEO more than it helps; we treat rendering and redirects as core requirements, not extras.

What does a custom build cost to run afterwards?

More than off-the-shelf — that's the honest trade-off. Headless moves complexity from the platform to your team: the front end, the build pipeline, the integrations and the maintenance are yours. We're upfront about that ongoing cost before you commit, and we can provide senior ongoing ownership so it isn't a burden you carry alone.

Can you build a fully custom platform, not just a storefront?

Yes — custom platforms, portals, internal tools and the integrations between them, when your operation is genuinely different from what any packaged product assumes. We scope the business rules, users, data and security first, build on staging, verify, and hand over a working system with a record of what it does and how to run it.

How do we start, and do you need our passwords?

You start with a Store & Systems Audit. The first conversation is about the commercial case and the problem you're solving — no passwords required. Access is only requested later, scoped to specific work, with controlled access and rollback.

Is a custom build right for you?

We start from the commercial case, not the tech trend — and if headless isn't the right move, we'll tell you. No passwords to start.
